Keep Strong’s Neck Pristine:
SNCA urges all residents to pick up trash that has accumulated along roadways. Our community cleanup efforts need to be continual, especially along Dyke Rd. We need to enlist the help of all six SN beach associations in this effort. When you do your individual beach clean-ups please remind everyone to please do their part as they walk and bike the area. We have a lot of "community" land that we all enjoy. Let’s all work to keep it clear of paper and trash.
Civic Issues:
The board of directors has been notified by SCPD that speeding and stopping at stop signs has been identified as a problem on Strong’s Neck and that selective enforcement will begin for the safety of all residents and children at play.
- Private land: When you walk, please take care to respect private property and do not cross or dump debris on privately owned land. If you collect grass clippings, try composting rather than dumping; and remind your neighbors to do the same.
- Building Permits: Residents who are making improvements to their homes that require building permits must post the permit so that it is visible from the road.
- Clear Roadways: Instruct your landscapers to park trucks such that they do not block roadways. If your shrubs or trees are encroaching on the roadway, cut them back. Give walkers and cyclists a safe passage area.
- Speeding: Strong’s Neck is loaded with walkers, riders and children. As a result, the entire peninsula is 30 MPH.
- Dogs: Be considerate of your neighbors and pick up after your pets.
- Horses: Please be mindful of horse traffic.
- Deer: The deer population is growing; please drive with caution.
- Horseshoe Crabs: Please do not disturb during mating season.
Town of Brookhaven: Historic signs are being installed this month!!!
Conservation Strategies 2030: The final report for this long-range community planning study conducted by the Three Village Community Trust (TVCT) is now being prepared. Reportedly, the results will be presented to the community at venues and times yet to be announced. Brookhaven 2030: This comprehensive, long needed master planning effort by the Town of Brookhaven is apparently dormant.
